No hazardous chemicals are used in a Unipolar® system. Powerful oxidants are generated by electrolysis from the water itself.

How much power does a Unipolar® system use?

The Unipolar® system is energy efficient. Depending on water quality and level of disinfection, typical power consumption could be 1.5 kilowatt-hours to less than 1 kilowatt-hour per cubic metre of water.

Our initial commercial focus is to produce class A recycled water. Future R&D will be aimed at producing potable recycled water.

The Unipolar® system is a scalable and modular design, capable of treating flow rates from 10 litres per minute up to megalitres per day.

Can it remove algal bloom toxins?

The Unipolar® system produces powerful oxidants that can breakdown many compounds. These oxidants have the potential to remove nutrients that contribute to algal blooms, such as phosphorus and nitrogen, along with associated algal bloom toxins.

How effective is Unipolar® at removing salt from water?

Unipolar Water Technologies® is working on a simple, low-cost desalination process. This will have many important applications where salinity is a significant issue.
